Raft Build
Lesson Purpose :
- To work as a group to build a raft.
- To highlight the need for co-operation, trust, teamwork and effective communication.
- To work as part of a team to design and construct an appropriate raft.
- To demonstrate the effective use of a square lashing, if required.
Time Needed:
60-90 mins but usually leads into some sort of extension activity which will use up a morning or afternoon session.
Year Levels:
Year 6 upwards
Instructor:
TEEC Staff Member or class teacher.
General Comments:
A good fun activity to do towards the end of the day. May need to be used instead of the "Giant Swing" when the water level in the dam is high.
Australian Curriculum:
During the course of this activity it may be possible to target a number of the "Content Descriptions" across year levels six upwards.
Year 6
