The activities that we most often use in our residential camps can be grouped into the following two strands:

  1. Sustainability
  2. Personal and Social Capability 

There is of course an overlap of our activities. For example a canoeing activity although defined as a "Personal and Social Capability Activity" will more often than not, encompass elements of "Sustainability".

Use the links below to view a summary of each activity. We have also identified how these activities might target some content of other areas of the Australian Curriculum (Version 8.0). The Pre-visit and post-visit activities provided will enhance your students learning experiences.

Our two campus sites are located on the shores of Tinaroo Dam and we promote personal development  through challenge. Our activities revolve around

  2. Personal and Social Capability

Selecting activities

When selecting activities for your program you must consider the following: 

  1. It must include environmental education activities - i.e. activities that will give pupils knowledge, awareness and skills that will enable them to care for the natural environment - that will give them an environmental ethic they can pursue in their daily lives; 
  2. The program should be structured in consultation with the staff of the Centre;
  3. The program should comprise activities that cannot easily be completed in a normal school situation;
  4. You are free to suggest or complete activities other than those listed, provided they meet the program criteria set by the Principal;
  5. A four or five day program will give your students the best learning outcomes. Schools who wish to run programs of this length will be given preference. It is acknowledged that a three day program is appropriate in some circumstances. Contact the Centre principal for additional clarification.
  6. Activities should be related to some theme or work program being ​​completed at school. Completing a series of unrelated activities here at the Centre without pre and post visit work is really a waste of time (see suggested pre-visit activities);
  7. Ensure that both you and your pupils have very clearly in your mind the aims/objectives of the camp;
  8. School groups of up to 4 classes in size (120) can be accommodated at the Barron River Campus. The Black Gully Campus can take 2 classes (60). Details regarding group sizes can be negotiated with the Principal TEEC;
  9. A member of staff of this Centre will, if possible, make a pre-visit to your school to discuss the program and meet your students;
  10. It is essential that you visit this Centre to familiarise yourself with the physical setting and facilities before coming to camp.
  11. Teachers will be required to familiarise themselves with activity descriptions of all activities being undertaken. You will be required to assist the Centre staff in running the program while on camp.

Planning your activities

​Complete the online form called 'Planning your camp'. This information will then be used to design a program specifically for your class. This will be emailed to you. You should then assess the program and contact the staff of the Centre with any changes you wish to make. From here you will need to use the information contained in the Camp planning checklist to assist you in the organisation of your camp.
