Programs and Activities

At the Tinaroo Environmental Education Centre (TEEC), we offer a range of educational programs that are designed to encourage:

• the teaching and learning of skills such as organisation, getting along, confidence, persistence, and resilience
• sustainable living
• the development of an adventurous spirit through a variety of outdoor activities and challenges
• safe experiences in nature
• understanding the value of outdoor pursuits for personal enjoyment, health and wellbeing

All our programs at TEEC contain explicit curriculum links with the Australian Curriculum. Our programs and activities have a specific focus on the general capabilities of Personal and Social Capabilities and the Critical and Creative Thinking Capabilities of problem solving and reflection. We are an Education Queensland School that values student's learning through community living and active engagement in team building challenges, water activities and high rope challenges. We have two beautiful campuses to choose from, our Black Gully Campus which caters for up to 60. At Black Gully Campus, our visitors camp in tents, right along the edge of the dam and have access to catered meals, toilet blocks and hot showers. We also have our Barron River Campus which caters for larger groups of up to 120 visitors in dormitory style accommodation.

Residential Programs

TEEC offers tailored and individualised programs over 5 days / 4 nights or 4 days / 3 nights that are designed for students in Years 6 - 12. We can also provide programs over 3 days / 2 nights if schools prefer or require a shorter camp experience.

Day Visit Programs

Our day visit programs are designed to meet the needs of our local schools by delivering quality environmental and outdoor education programs facilitated over a single day.

Leadership Programs

Our team at TEEC can work with schools to provide tailor​-​made leadership programs for students in Years 11 and 12. TEEC also facilitates a Year 6 Leadership Extension Program for School Captains in our catchment area each year.

Expedition Programs

These programs are designed for Year 7 – 12 students and can be designed over 4 or 5 day programs depending on the size of the visiting group. Please note these programs take place out of our Black Gully site. Please discuss potential expedition style camp options with one of our helpful staff.​
