Communicate Clearly

  • Leaders need to communicate clearly to others for a number of purposes.  You may need to persuade others to follow you or adopt your ideas.
  • You may have to explain your plans or ideas clearly and briefly so that others in a group know what they are to do.
  • You may have to speak in front of a group for any number of reasons.
  • One skill that sets leaders apart from others is their ability to communicate messages clearly, briefly and in interesting ways.

Tips on how to become an effective communicator.

  1. You listen to what others say
  2. You speak in a clear, well-modulated voice when you speak to others
  3. You make eye contact when you speak to others
  4. You stand in a confident manner when you speak to others
  5. You avoid fidgeting when you speak to others
  6. You volunteer to speak in front of groups
