tide rushing injet taking off

Many of the things we do in our modern world rely on us burning fossil fuels for energy. We burn petrol in our cars to make them move. We burn coal, gas and oil to make electricity to run almost everything in our houses.

Fossil fuels are what we call non-renewable resources. Using up our non-renewable resources is not a good thing. Burning fossil fuels also produces poisonous gases which pollute the air we breathe.

Most worrying however is that these gases are making the Earth's Greenhouse Effect work more efficiently which is warming our planet.

What can we do?

We can use less electricity and use our cars less.

We can examine alternative ways of producing the energy we need.

Make sure you understand what Fossil Fuels are and what Non Renewable / Renewable Energy is before you move on.
