Lesson Purpose

  1. View the layout of the Atherton Tableland's district.
  2. Consider the human impact on the Tableland's environment.
  3. View the geographical characteristics of the area.
  4. Consider the impact of Tinaroo Dam on the development of the Tablelands.
  5. Identify the plants and animals found in a dry forest environment.

General Information

Canoe and hike (approx. 3km) activity. Involves a paddle to the other side of the lake and a fairly steep climb onto the ridge overlooking the dam wall.

During the course of this activity it may be possible to target a number of the "Content Descriptions" across year levels five to seven.
