Lesson Purpose :
Our staff can lead your group through a variety of activities that require map and compass work. Usually we incorporate these skills into all our expeditions across the lake or through the forest. However we can also set up a specific orienteering course in the adjoining parkland. The complexity of the skills taught will depend on the prior knowledge of the group.
Reading a compass

Using the bearing and the compass to plot a course
Time Needed :
60 mins or more depending on the skill level of the group.
Instructor's Skills :
TEEC staff member or class teacher.
General Comments :
A group that already has the required skills could use this as a late afternoon or evening activity, supervised by their teacher.
Australian Curriculum :
During the course of this activity it may be possible to target a number of the "Content Descriptions" across year levels five to ten.
